BILL CERTAIN OF ADOPTION

Washington, June 11

The Senate defeated the series of amendments to the Canal Tolls Repeal Bill by majorities of from ten to thirteen votes. Republicans voted on the Democratic side.

Attempts are now pendnx* to carry other amendments asserting American sovereignty; but it is considered probable that the repeal forces will win.

Repeated suggestions wove made to submit the dispute to arbitration.
