LIBERAL LEAGUE FORMED AT
TAKAKA
A meeting convened by Messrs. 3. F. Rose and W. Bird was held at Allington's sample rooms, Takaka, on Saturday evening last_ for the purpose of considering the advisability of forming a branch oi: the Liberal League of New Zealand. . After discusison it was resolved that a branch of -the league bo formed in the Takaka district for the purpose of securing the return of the Hon. R.> MeKenzie, M.P., to Parliament at next election, and working in the interests of the Liberal party generally. Officers wore elected as follows :■—• President, Mr. J. F. Rose; vice-presi-dent. Mr. J. A. J. McLaren; secretary, Mr. H. A. Byrue; treasurer, Mr. ,W< Bird.
The subscription was fixed at 2s <sd, ladies free.
A committee of fifteen was elected, with power to add to their number. The meeting then adjourned for a fortnight.
