Russell, June 11. Mr Vernon Heed, M.P. for the Bay. of Islands, addressing his constituents, had a most successful meeting, at which the following resolution was carried almost unanimously:—"That this meeting protests against the action of tha Bay of Islands Reform League in nominating a Government candidate for the electorate after having agreed to leave the final choice to the Prime Minister; this meeting further protests against the League's assertion that it represents the Government vote m the electorate." The meeting passed a vote of thanks and confidence in Mr Reed.
