KING OR BUTCHER?

A curious description of the King of Saxony is published to the "East Priegnitz Rigster and Official Gazette." It says:—"The King of Saxony looks in uniform just like any ordinary cavalry captain of an honest middle-class family. In mufti there is nothing majestic about him at all. His heart cannot be won by flattery, on the contrary, he can be downright rude when anyone tries to blarney him, and it is not uncommon for King Frederick to turn his back with an oath to a courtier who has tried openly to curry his favour with the aid of falsehood. Once when the King was passing through the market in plain clothes a peasant woman came up to him, mistaking him for a butcher. 'You are mistaken, my good woman,' said the King. 'I am not really a butcher. 1 only look like one.'""
