TERRITORIAL PARADE.
Tho weather was not altogether propitious for the holiday yesterday in honour of the birthday of King George ;V. Although fine in the morning, several heavy showers fell in the afternoon, which affected the attendance of spectators at the Park, where the Rugby Union's eeven-a-sido tournament was held. , A parade of city territorials and cadets was held at tho Drill Shed in the. morning, Major Stiles being in command. After inspection by JjieutenantColonel Bryant, the parade, headed by tho band of the 12th Regimont, marched to Trafalgar Park, whero a feu de joie- was fired, and tho Royal Salute givon; also cheers for the King. Several ceremonial movements were carried out, after which tho parade returned to ti™ Drill Shod, and were dismissou. Following was the parade state :— H Battery (Captain Adams) 30 12th Regiment A Company (Captain Hammond) 112 Nelson College Cadets (Lieutenant Saxon) 60 50th Company Cadets ' 20 51st Company Cadets (Lieutenant Rout) 40 Band of the 12th Regiment (Bandmaster Hughes) -^ Staff ' - s - _6 Total 330 Captains Avery and Thorns and the staff sergeant-major were also on parade. " .'•■•> The- Nelson Hockey Associations tournament was held in the morning at the Botanical Reserve. McMahon's circus gave two performances and in the evening the Permanent Pictures attracted a crowded audience- at the Theatre Royal..
