SNODGRASS represents all class-; : es, and recognises that the interests of small and large ratepayers are identical. MR. SNODGRASS originated .the Nelson Advancement Society, and seeks Election believing that as Mayor he could further the interests of Nelson and its Citizens. REMEMBER Mr. Lock's Election j Promises and Statements, as follows: — I Reduction of Rates: —Mr. Lock pledged himself "After a cajeful, exhaustive and dispassionate analysis of the Council's position," to reduce the .Rates and Maintain the Public Services in an efficient state and give a fairer distribution^of street expenditure. Note.—Mr Lock DECLINED to second a resolution to reduce the rates; and the Streets have been Shamefully Neglected. Expenditure.—Mr. Lock complained of the excessive expenditure of the previous Council, and of its spending in .one year £800 on reserves and only £5,500 on the streets. Note.—This year the sum of £1200 (practically double the year's "allocation,, and £4£K) in excess of the previous year's- expenditure) has been spent on reserves and places of public recreation, and only £3,550 (being nearly £2000 less than the previous Council) on the streets. : '. . Note also.—The Overdraft on General Account "has been increased by ■ £1300.; ', • ■ , • Wages.—Mr. Lock ERRONEOUSLY Complained of the previous Council's docking three days' pay from an employee of 40 years' standing. Note.—The rate of pay of.TWO of the Oldest Employees^ of the Council was Reduced during the past year.
