INSPIRATION AND THE BATH.
A member of the London Stock Exchange, who had just achieved an ingenious financial coup, was being congratulated by admiring friends, when one asked him.' how tlio idea came to him (says a London daily). "I thought it out while I was taking my bath," he told a reporter. "My best ideas always come to me in the bath." This explanation created great interest, for there were others present with similar experiences, though one declared that * during his bath his leaning, was toward , music, and that he sponged himself in time to popular airs picked up from the office boy. Mr. Arthur Bourchier
confessed that he read "plays in the bath, and that the best results were obtained by those selected either in the bath or on a long railway journey.
"A man-is always at his best in his bath. The early morning is the best time to formulate ideas, and the late morning and evening the best times to carry them out." Mr. Charles Garvice, the novelist, said he always felt intensely musical while having his bath, and continually found himself whistling and humming. But the ideas for his stories came chiefly while shaving.
