STRIKING ARBITRATION UNIONS.
PUNISHMENT ASKED FOR
Wellington, March 17. A. deputation representing the citizens' committee, which acted during the strike, waited <5n the Minister for Justice yesterday, and drew attention to the fact that a number of -unions which went on strike recently in defiance of the Arbitration Act in. sympathy with tho watersiders and others, havo not bee-i prosecuted J> was pointed out that there were eighteen such unions in New Zealand, and the deputation urged tlat the law ought to be put in action against them. The Minister, in reply, said that the duty of instituting proceedings -under tho'Arbitration Act did not rest with his Department, but vith the Labour Department; but ho undertook to inform the Minister lor Labour of what the deputation had represented.
