NELSON SENIOR COMPETITION.
The senior competition is still, a complicated problem. At the start of the season the Old Boys and Kamura occupied the top places, but gradually a chango has come over tho scene, and at present the point., are so evenly split up that it i» quite- Smpossiblo to pick any one of the four teams to eventually iill prido of p'.ace. College, on paper, are in the strongest position, but their chances depend solely upon the efforts of Broad and Saxon, and so long as these two can keep going the team is likely,to beat any of tho others. The positions of the team are now as follows: — ■ lid. Won. Lost. Pts. play. Nelson 6 3 3 9 3 College 5^ 3 2 & 4 Kamura to 4 -o - Old Boys 6 3 3. / J
It will lie noticed that each team has won three matches. When the results are analysed the position becomes even more inexplicable. Before Christmas, when the College team, is supposed tcr be stronger than afterwards, O!d Boys defeated them by an innings. After Christmas Old Boys only narrowly escaped >an innings defeat atthe hands of College. Again, Old Boys beat Col r lo<'o-bv. an innings, and al«> defeated. Kamuira easily t\yiee. Both Kamurs. and College'easily beat kelson, who then proceeded to twice defeat Old Boys. Kamura beat Nelson twice, only to have the tables turned by nine wickets on the third occasion There will be no Association matches next Saturday. The old boys' day at the College makes it impossible tor Old Boys or College to put. teams out. and among those left there are no cup games left to be playo-rl. A C. Cooke's latest score in Gi3oorneis 101, and W. J. Bannehr (formerly of Nelson) scored 19 (not put), and 4-5. in senior cricket in Christchurch re cently.
