PRESENT SYSTEM ENDORSED

Sydney, Feb. 10,

A determined effort was made by a section of the Labour Conference to have compulsory training entirely abol-

ished

Mr. J. C. Wat-son,..however, used his weighty influence on behalf of the compulsory basis of the Defence Act. The discussion resulted in a large majority in support of the present system. In view of a number of serious allegations that abuses had crept into the administration of the Act, the Conference decided to demand a Royal Commission of inquiry.
