[United Pbesb Association.]

Wellington, Jan. 19

A serious fracas is reported as having taken place to-day on the Britishowned collier Harflete at present lying at Miramar wharf. The vessel arrived a few days ago coal laden from Newcastle, and carries a Chinese crew. Apparently, after an altercation on board, two of the Celestials, one armed with a crowbar and the other with a hammer, attacked another man named Ah Fong, and inflicted very severe injuries \ipon him. The man was taken to the hospital, where it was ascertained that his condition was serious, his head being badly cut about, and the symptoms pointing to internal injuries. The two men who made the assault, it is understood, have been arrested.
