BODIES FOUND IN MAGELLAN
STRAITS
Berlin, Jan. 18
Reports from Hamburg state that the bodies of the third officer and v sailor belonging to the Acilia were picked up in the Straits of Magellan. A quantity of wreckage was also found. Natives report that a big 'Steamer sank in the vicinity.
The Hamburg-Amerika liner A cilia, of 5.700 tons, was homeward bound from ports on the Pacific coast of South America for Hamburg. She left Val-pari-so on October 23, and was expected to arrive at Montevideo on November 13. It was announced that the Kosmos liner Sebara left Valparaiso on the same day as the Acilia and arrived at Montevideo on November 12. The captain reported that ho believed he sighted the Acilia near the western entrance'of the Straits of Magellan at the beginning of November in very bad weather. The owners requested the Chilean Government to send a cruiser in search. Opinion in London was that the vessel had probably been wrecked at or near Cape Pillar, at the western entrance to the Straits of Magellan—a dangerous and desolate region, where terrific weather is sometimes experienced.
