On Saturday afternoon Mr. Liley, of Waimea road, an ex-Army veteran, who was wearing the Turkish and Crimean medals, was presented to nis Excellency the Governor, who chatted with him 'for a few. minutes. Although well advanced m years, Mr. Liley takes an interest in bands, and on Sat-, ui-dat acted_-as'- bass drummer for the Citizens' Band. The Nelson College Old Boys' Football Club held a social in the Masonic Hall on Saturday evening. There was a large attendance. Mr J., Houlker, president of the club, occupied the chair and Mr W. D^venish, the vicechair! The proceedings were of a most enjoyable nature, and the evening aclmirablv served its purpose>-as a reunion of old "boys. Representatires'irom the.
