OPENING OF THE SEASON.

MAITAI CLUB

(From,"Hie.Colonist," Sept. -22.). ' .. 'Tho .■■Maitai Bowling Club opened its season under splendid conditions onSaturday. There was a large attendance of ladies and bowlers, seven rinks being fully occupied. Mr. J, E. Alten, tho president of the club, in the opening speech, entered into a short history of the green, and congratulated Mr. Tomblin on its very perfect appearance —which was higoly comineiu-c i' upon- by those taking part in tho ;■ un-noon's play—also welcoming the visitors, and offering, to sister clubs- a he-arty welcome to play until their. j-j:;rx:ctive clubs are ready for play. . . ; . . P Mrs C ¥.■ Dodds, m the absence of Mrs. Allen, thrcv the first jack, and bowled the first ball. After hearty cheering, the green was declared open. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. tx. F. Dodds, assisted by many ladies. The- usual president (J. E. Allen) v. vice-president (G. F.
