Wellington, Aug. 26. The promise of the Minister for Education to 'submit a new scheme of salaries for the teachers next year was reviewed at a well attended meeting ot the Wellington branch of the Educational Institute this evening. It was resolved: That the Institute is glad to hear through its executive that it is the. intention of the Government to bring in legislation so as to review, if possible, tho basis on which the 'teachers' salaries are paid, and to raise the salaries; and suggests that any increases to 'be made shall date from January next. The feeling was strongly expressed by several speakers that there was an urgent need _ for betterment of the teachers' salaries. A motion that increases should bo £10 all round was rejected. •
