Messrs Nowman■ Brothers, the .well known coach proprietors, have p.iaced upon the road a4O horse power commercial motor waggon. The under carriage was imported from London, but the body and cap worn built by Messrs Balme and Co., of this city. The vehicle has been tested with very satisfactory results. A load of three tons was tr.ken up Cross' batik, a steep declivity at Brightwater, without the slightest trouble, and a load of two and a half tons was brought into town.at an average rate of 15 miles per hour, including the bad stretch of road at Raxton's creek. On the flat p. speed of 20 miles an hour was maintained with ?ase. Messrs Newman .Eros, intend to ■ iise tho waggon in connection with .their business for carrying coach passengers' luggage','goods', and fodder supplies for the coach horses at the various depots. It is intended later to -.utilise the vehicle for picnic parties, and betAvecn fifty, and sixty passengers will be accommodated in* comfort. Being the first vehicle of its kind in the streets it attracted considerable attention jn Saturday.
