Tho half-yearly mottin^ of the Mansion of Peace Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0.J?v wa s -held in tho Oddfellows' Hall, W&keficld, on. Saturday evening, N.G., Ero. \V. Ma mien presiding. There was a splendid muster of members and visiting members. The district officers, GranS.-master Bro. T. Bell, Deputy CM., Bro. W. H. Robertson, and the provincial secretary Bro.*' A. G. bhrimpton, paid an official visit, -and wore most heartily received.
The. most important; business of tho evening .was the consideration of the actuary's recommendations re the disposal of the surplus. The 191.0 valuation disclosed a surplus of over £3000, and of this sum £201/0 could be allowed as an. appropriation. Of the several schemes suggested by the actuary, Bro. Tunniclifie moved: — '"That the sum of £200 he transferred from the "sick fund and bo proportioned amongst the members in shares equal to their years of membership, with a maximum of 15 shares; and that tho respective shares be utilised in purchasing paid up policies in the increased funeral benefit fund, with the proviso that members on attaining the age of 00 can surrender the whole or such portion of the policy that will he noexssary to pay their future contributions; provision to he also made that a. member may have the power at any age, it in distress, to utilise tho policy to meet his contributions." Owing to an oversight, the proposal was not included in the business paper,, and a special summoned meeting will be hold next lodge night to finally settle the question.
