Miss Kenney appeared on -tho platform at a music hall and. sold hor two prison licenses by auction for £12 for the benefit of tho Women's Social and Political Union's funds.
Mrs Pankhurst also' came on to tho platform amid tumultous cheering.
Both were arrested when leaving
After a violent struggle- with the police Mrs Pankhurst escaped in a taxi-cab, a crowd of women beating off the detectives with parasols and sticks.
A constable's coat was torn cfi m the melee.
