(To the Editor of "The Colonist.")
Sir, —In re-plying to a correspondent in your columns the Rev. J. H. MacKenzie made a statement to the effect that "any Anglican clergyman will tell j him that this (the eo-ealied New South Wales system) has been the pet scheme of the Anglican Synods for the last thirty years." I challenged the statement, and showed that the General Synod did not adopt this system until three- years ©go. Mr. MacKenzie replies that he "did not mention tho General Synods." It is news to me that General Synod is not to be included in "Anglican Synods"! Now, of [Anglican Synods in New Zealand it jmay be *aid '' We are seven." If Mr. .MacKenzie did not refer to General Synod wemust deduct one. Thero are six left. To-which'of these did he refer?; No doubt what, "any Anglican clergyman will tell him," can be proved easily by Mr. MacKenzie. In order that a (he may be at no disadvantage in proving his statement I shall be happy to place at his disposal all the reports of tho Anglican Synods in my pos.session. Meantime what the Otago Presbyterian Synod or what Archdeacon Baker has said may give a clue in the investigation of the problem, but they are not "Anglican Synods." Of course if Mr. MacKenzie cannot .prove his statement dictates of honour will compel him to withdraw it. , I am, etc., WILLIAM C. NELSON. Nelson, June 21, 1913.
