DRUNKENNESS.
Charged with (1) drunkenness, and (2) with being drunk while in charge of a \horso on tho Rocks road at 9.50 p.m. on May 25th, Hugh Guthrio, employed on tho s.&. Kennedy, was convicted and ordered to pay £2, with 7s costs, or in default one week's.imprisonment. Defendant did not-appear, but signed a statement admitting his guilt. The- Bench referred to the seriousness of tho offence, Mr. Rout . remarking that it was dangerous for oven a sober man to drive along this road at night let alone- a drunken man.
Senior-Sergeant Darby, who appeared for tho police, stated that defendant collided with another trap which was on the proper 'Side of tho road. Charles Anderson, who was in company with tho defendant, charged with drunkenness: was ordered to pay; ss, with costs 7s, or in default, 48 hours* imprisonment. :
