A TEMPESTUOUS VOYAGE.
ARRIVAL OF THE MARORO
SEAMAN LOST OVERBOARD.
The three-masted topsail schooner Maroro, 200 tons, Captain R. Owen, arrived at Nelson from Newcastle yesterday, bringing 287 tons of coal for tho gasworks. The vessel loft Newcastle on the 3rd inst., and experienced bad weather throughout the voyage, encountering severe gales which alternated with periods during which the schoonor was becalmed. After passing Cape Egmont tho vessel ran into good weather.
At 3.30 a.m. on Sunday last an ordinary seaman named Leslie Miller was lost overboard while shortening sail during a squall. A boat was immediately lowered, and lifebelts were thrown into the sea, but thoiigh the Maroro cruised about the vicinity until 7 a.m. nothing was seen of tho man. Miller belonged to Sydney.
