HOCKEY.
TO-DAY'S COMPETITIONS
The second of a scries of Wednesday hockey attractions promoted .by ,the Nelson Hockey Association, with the double object of promoting Wednesday hockey and also with a view to raising funds to send the Nelson ladies' representative team t-o Auckland to del end their title of champions, will be played at the Botanical Reserve this afternoon at 3.30 p.m. The. principal attraction is the match. Civil Servants v. -banking, law and insurance offices. As these teams contain a number of prominent players, a good exposition of the game may be exnected. In conjunction the Wakatu ■Ladies' Hockey Club will play a club six-a-side competition; consisting of three matches. The- following have been selected to represent the Civil Servants":^McNeil (Railway), Oldershaw, Farm enter, Wells'(Telegraph), Strattori (Customs),. Hollyman (Telegraph), Guthrie (Railway), Clark (Telegraph), Boyes■(Education), Harvey (Defence),- Coles (Police). The Civil Servants .'will play in the Nelson Club's colours. , The following will represent the Banks and Insurance: Wright, Monson Nea'.e, White, Webley, Morgan Ashby, McCabe, Hurst, Heslop, and-Gilbert. Yesterday afternoon, the College Old Girls defeated the present girls by 7 goals to nil.
