WATER POWER.
HARNESSING LAKE COLERIDGE. (Special to "The Colonist. s'.> Christchurch, May 13. According to a special reporter of |'The Press" who visited Lake- Coleridge last week the citizens of Cliristchure.li are not going to enjoy the benents of the scheme, in two years' time as it is now confidently expected they may have to wait a good while longer. The work has been proposed to bo completed by the end of 1913, thei opening of the system taking place on New Year's Day, 1914, but it is very unlikely that this can take place. There are so many preliminary things to be done bo fore the actual work can be taken in hand. So far the place lias been only "scratched." Several roads have been made by the- Public Works Department for purposes of transit and minor works are in hand, but for the Jong tunnel the map work has not yet been, started. Operations in this direction will probably commence in a week's time.
