\ Auckland,.MaySfA statement in regard to hie resifenatioa from the position of chairman' of the directors of the Bank of New Zealand was made by Mr Harold Beauchamp to the "Herald's" reporter this evening. "My reason for intimating to the Government my desire to be relieved of the position of chairman of the Bank, after the expiration of my last term, namely on March 81st, was solely oa. account of my health," said Mr Reauchamp. "I wrote to the Minister for Finance to that effect on February 6th last. Prior, however, to the receipt of my letter by at least a week, the Cabinet resolved not to reappoint me. This was no. doubt due to the attitude which I had always assumed as chairman -of tlia Bank, .in .the ,\};orda, I would not at any time let my own' opinions be subjecfc "to 'p.olitTcal'"feigtocie3. That is ail .I''have1 to'say4n this connection at present."--
