Tho Presbyterian Assembly adopted a ■resolution in favour of an effort to setaire a stipend of £300 and a manse for reach minister. Complaints wore mado that many ministers were underpaid, and that while the cost of living during tho past five years had advanced 30 per cent, salaries had not improved. The report showed that there was a great -^dearth of candidates for the ministry.
