T.'ie Borough's offer of £300 is a gen-pi-ous one, and it is to he sincerely hoped that before long we will be in the position of at least limiting the ravages of a serious outbreak of fire i:i the main street.
At a recent meeting of the Fruitmowers' Union, Mr. F. W. Kirk ".rote stating that a South American buyer would be in the district shortly prepared to buy 12.000 cases of apples. Messrs Moritzson and Co., of Onnedin, wrote asking for a supply <'■( a simi'ar quantity. It is thus evident that the local supply of this fruit v. ill bo in great demand this season.
