Chrfstchurch, Jan 8. Tho National Peace Council met today to consider, the present situation regarding the threatened prosecutions under the Defence Act. After discussing the,, matter fully the following resolution was carried: "That tl is Council most emphatically protests against the action of the Government in threatening prosecutions under the Defence Act with the intention of intimidating boys, notwithstanding tho fact that it was clearly stated by the acting-Minister of Defence on tie floor of tho lions;.' prior to the elections that no further prosecutions vnder tho Defence Act would bo instituted, and that instructions to this effect have been i^ued in a recent memorandum to the military authorities." _ _ The Council discussed the probability of pny prosecutions b. in" instituted, and decided that in thai event they would at once take timorous steps to organise and make effective tho opposition to the schenio throughout the Dominion.
