At an athletic carnival yesterday G. N. Hill attempted to lower A.Shrubb's Australasian milo record of 4mm 22 sees. Hill, who was not at his best, only managed to cover the distance in 4i\'in 25 l-ssecs. The 75 yards invitation handicap was a contest between Opie, the Australasian champion, and itedmoml, the Now South Wales champion. Redmond won by two yards in 7 3-osccs. Donnor, who beat Hill in .the mile and annexed the BSO yards .md 4-tO yards handicaps, is ;i very promising runner from Opotiki.
