SEPARATE SCHOOL DISTRICT WANTED.
A deputation w.itcd upon the 80-ml and asked that Tahunanui bo constituted a separate school district.
Mr. Richmond Fell said that tlu-re were 41 children on tin- roll at Tahuna, seven had passed the fourth standard and had to attend the Stoke school, nearly three miles distant. There were also children living at Annesbrook, some of whom attended Tahiina and others Stoke, lie u;;j.ed that the standard of the school at Taluimi bo raited. Mr. Fell said tli.u a family had left Tahuna to reside in town because the children would have to attend the Stok? school. The Tnhuna people considered that the glory of the Stoke school should not be considered before the welfare of the Tahuna children
The deputation having withdrawn. the application was discussed, and it was resolved that consideration be d:>fened till next meeting, the Secretary in the meantime to collect data in regard'to a separate .school district.
