NELSON EDUCATION BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Nelson Education Board was concluded on Tuesday. Present: Messrs W. N. Franklyn (chairman), G. 13. Shepherd, W. Lock, J. L. Munson, J. W. Fair, L. D. Easton, J. U. Benke, F. W. Smith, and A. T. Iviagmiiity.

The Inspectors reported that they had examined the following schools, and the results were:—St. Mary's Boys', satisfactory to good; Cabragh House, Zephyr Lodge, St. Mary's Girls', and St. Mary's High School, satisfactory.

The Secretary of the North Canterbury Education Hoard forwarded a copy of a resolution passed at its 1:s.•-■ t meeting to the effect that in connection with any addition or alteration to Acts affecting Education Boards, the latter should be informed in time to allow them to give expression of opinion thereon.—lt was resolved to endorse the resolution.

An application from the Riwaka School Committee for a gnnt for :m addition to the Riwaka school was referred to the Inspectors.

The Motucka Committee applied for a grant to make a culvert r.hrn^ the school frontage.—Resolved t'i::t a sum not exceeding £4 be granted.
