HON. R, McKENZIE ON THE WEST COAST.

A CORDIAL RECEPTION

(Special to "Tho Colonist.")

Seddonvlile, Nov. 28. Tlic Hon R. McKenzie arrived from Nelson on Monday and held a very good meeting at Summerlea in tho afternoon, there being a large attendance, including several ladies. Mr. Marris was in the chair. Mr. McKcnzio expressed pleasure in meeting his constituents whom he had represented for so many years and felt that he retained their confidence and esteem. He touched on the various topics now under political discussion, defending tho Government's policy in borrowing, etc., for tho purpose of developing the resources of tho country. He showed that almost all the money raised by tho Liberal party was interest paying and spent in the benefit of the young country. Touching on local matters ho reminded his hearers of his advocacy all along of their interests and said he had always helped the district and never in any way neglected his duties to his constituents. Ho dealt with the misrepresentations of the Opposition which had always opposed the Liberal measures introduced for tho benefit of tho people and concluded his address by stating that ho anticipated their continued confidence, faith and support. On sitting down Mr. McKcnzie was heartily applauded. A vote of thanks and confidencein their member and in tho Ministry, proposed by Mr. Peter Munim. seconded by Mr. Fraser was carried unanimously with acclamation.

On returning to Seddonvillo tho local brass band met the Minister and played him to the hotel. In tho evening a record meeting was held in St. George's Hall, ScddonviJlc, the building being full to the doors. The Minister received a very hearty reception and spoke for nearly two hours some what on the lines of his previous speeches. The speecli was punctuated throughout by hearty applause. Several questions were asked and answered to the satisfaction of tho audience, ono being a request for the enlargement of the local school, tlia Minister replying that the tremendous audience was proof positive that extension waa urgently required and lie would do all in his power to secure it. Mr. Peter Cuinmings, chairman, mado a laudatory speech with reference to the Hon. Mr. McKonzio's past services to his constituency f< ;• so many years, and a vote of tha-iks and confidence in Mr. McKon.iio as their member and in the administration, proposed by Mr. Slado and duly seconded, was carried unanimously with acclamation.
