DRAUGHT HORSES.
The bulk of the draught horses were judged on the first day, yesterday's result being confined to those shown in harness. For the best marc or gelding shown in spring dray, there were six entries, and the class was described by the judge (Mr R. D. Knight) as an exceptionally good one. For the best mare- or gelding in express, to be judged according to style and power, and the best marc or gelding with express and harness, the same entries competed, and Mr. W. Jessop, of Hope scored in both classes, Messrs Cooksey and Co and Mr. H. J. Pose, Richmond, being second and third respectively. Mr. Knight sjK)ke in complimentary terms of all the exhibits and said that the only difference between thorn was that the second and third prize winners showed signs of a lot of work. Mr. Rose's "Don" has had a fine record, having won no less than thirteen first prizes but had to givo way to a younger horse.
