MR MOFFAIT'S CANDIDATURE,
Mr. AY. J. Mofl'att addressed th<> electors at the Happy Valley schoolroom last evening. There was a Rood attendance, about 30 being present. Mr.. W. Close occupied the chair. Air Mofl'att, why was received with u\> piausc, spoke for art hour and three quarters, and was frequently applauded. Th" remedy was to bo found in the operation of the graduated land tax increasing the quantity offering. ile emphasised the necessity of pro-riding cheap land, and stated that -all thov engaged in commercial and industrial pursuits were also vitally interested as it was only by the success of the primary industries that the secondary industries could extend and develop. He dealt exhaustively with the tenure question, and demonstrated the popularity f.n-d success of the Governni'.Mi' leasehold system. On the motion a. Vr. Charles Withers a very heart\
