Sydney, July 2G. In the Assembly, after an all night, sitting, the censure montion was defeated by 42 to 37. ' Mr Wado hinted that perhaps members' would soon bo brought before the electors to be judged on how they votefi for discontinuing resuming large estates, and emphasised tlio existence of land hunger. Mr Wado stated that recently there wore L6OO applieantsfor four blocks thrown open for selection. Mr Holman, acting Premier, in replying, declared that the Government would, have been deserving of censure if it had wasted money on resumptions when money was better spent on railways to open up the Crown lands for suitable settlement. The Crown had 26,000,000 acres which were ceady for settlement as soon as the special boards' reports classifying and valuing the areas were available 'in a few months. Mr Storey moved an addition to the motion that the proposal to include rural workers within the provision of the Industrial Bill was against the interests of land settlement. Two Independents notified their intention of voting with the Government on ihe censure motion, but they would vote against the repeal of the Conversion Act when before the House later. The Government received a surprise when Messrs Home and Dunn, country Labour members, announced their resignations as they were unable conscientiously to respond to the demands of -the party, on the land question. Both stated that they did not intend to offer themselves for re-election, and also that they had paired with Liberals on the censure motion. Both seats rendered vacant by the resignations were held until the last election by Liberals. ! Further Labour resignations are rumoured. (Received Ju'y 20, 7.20 p.m.) Sydney, July 2G. The latter stages of the censure dobate wore exciting. Towards the close two members of the Independent party announced their intention of voting : with the Government. This, and the I fact that Messrs Dunne and Morne, prior to resigning, had arranged pairs with two Oppositionists who rospected their pairs, saved • the situation. Prior to the taking of the censure division, a further amendment by Mr Storey "That the proposal to include rural workers under the Industrial Arbitration Bill' is against the interests of land settlement," was negatived by 44 to 35.
