The Rev. Edward Walker has resigned the pastorate of the Halcombe Presbyterian Church, with the intention of taking up his abode in California. His removal from New Zealand will be a distinct loss to the No-ljcense movement. The Voters' Guild issued in 1806, was in the main the work of Mr. Walker while Organising and Parliament Agent of the N.Z. Alliance. Mr. Walker has done immense service to the movement by his compilation of the yearly statistics of the amount spent in liquor.
The address to the Queen on the cccasion of the Coronation from the. wo- ij men of New Zealand was. signed by % Mrs Pettit, the Mayoress : Mrs Mules, the President of the Mothers' Union; and Miss R. Atkinson, the. President of the Women's Christian Temperance Union. Mr. E. Grimmett, who served his j apprenticeship with Mr. Kersbaw, en- i ' gineer, has gained his third marine certificate. Mr. Grimmett will shortly leave for England, in order to gain j . further knowledge and experience in ; his trade. His numerous friends in j Nelson will wish him every SutiCesß. j
