The bell of the brigantine Delaware, wrepked off the Maorj Pah in 1863, is now said to be in use at the Appleby school. At yesterday's meeting of the Education Board the chairman (Mr A. T. Maginnity) said he had been asked by the hon. curator (Staff Sergt.Majjor Colclough) if the bell could be procured for tjip Museum. As the bell was "an object of historical interest, ho suggested' that the Appleby School Committee should be approached to see if it- could be handed over to the Institute. Mr. Smith, was asked to make enquiring and report.
Wo are informed that the Ruby Bay_ Estate, Moutere, comprising some two thousand acres of land, will shortly bo sufe-divided into, areas suitable for orchard growing and placed on the market by the owner, Mr. W. Stafford. This lies on the Moutere coast between the; Tasman and Bronte estateaahdlikethosel)lqcks, the land is particularfy'suited'1 for' export apple culture.
