Napier, March 14

At the inquest held on the body of a man named Thos. MoGrath,- found in the Esk river, Petane, on Monday, the evidence showed that tho deceased was without money, and had been sent to work by the district engineer. Tho deceased/was 60 years of age, and was a hard-working man. Th© river was not fordablo on the morning in .question, and it is thought that McGrath was accidentally drowned whilst attempting to cross it. Tho Coroner returned a verdict to that effect.
