REEFTON MINING POSITION SERIOUS.

Reefton, March 14. Hie drought here continues, and shows no sign of abatement, and tho position is growing very serious. The mines will soon be forced to close down their crushing plants, whileother mining operations will be seriously retarded, if not forced to close, down. There is a water famine at Globe Hill, where residents carry water up in buckets from a small creek. In Rerrfton, in spite of the new water supply, making in all nearly a million gallons, the town water is turned off most of the day. Feed in the district ig very scarce, and milk in consequence is retailed at 6d per quart.
