NELSON GOLF CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING

(From "Tlie Colonist," Feb. 11.)

Last night the annual meeting of the Nelson Golf Club was held in the Chamber of Commerce rooms, Mr J. H. Cock presiding. There was a good attendance. ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report statod that the Club had had another successful season, which was begun with a credit balance of £25 Is 4d, and finished with & balance in hand of £43 14s Id. During the season the usual routine work was carried out on the upkeep of the course, and the members generally were well satisfied with its condition. The. first twelve months, of the new agreement with the Ground Company had passed and rent amounting to £140 had been paid. This was the first time the Ground Company had received a sum sufficient to pay interest and rates on their outlay, which was satisfactory alikci to the Club and the company. The grazing rights had been leased for £50 for 12 months. The club had been .notified that the lease would not be renewed. It would be difficult to find a suitable* tenant, in which case they would have to consider means of making up the sum necessary for their finances. A great deal of enthusiasm had been shown in the club matches, especially among the male member®. The thanks of the club were due to Mr J. H. Cock of a. silver challenge cup, to Mr Harris also for a cup, and to Mr 13. Brown for a donation, to Mr Ralph Jackson for some pictures for the club houso, to Messrs Jackson and Cfo for scoring cards, to Mrs J. H. Cock for providing afternoon tea, and to Mr Fell for the use of his office for meetings. A small sum had be?n expended in shrubs plantid around the golf house, and the club was indebted to several members for gifts of shrubs. Green, red and black had bean adopted as the colours of the club. The, chairman remarked upon tho extreme efficiency with which Mr Price had carried out the duties of secretary. The accounts had been admirably kept, and the whole work of the secretary had been thoroughly well done. (Applause.) Mr J. Sharp moved the adoption of the report and balance sheet. Mr C. King seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The meeting now ejected the officers for the ensuing year, as follows: — Captain, Mr C. J. Harley; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. H. P.rke; auditor, Mr E. J. Allen; committee, Messrs Wood, Burns, Broad, T. Houlker. and H. C. Cock. THE SUBSCRIPTION FEES. Mr C. R. Fell moved that as from now an entrance fee of one guinea be charged to new male members joining the. club,and that members might continiue. as honorary members if they left the locality by paying their subscriptions, no entrance fee being charged to them afterwards. Mr Wood seconded the motion. Mr Booth proposed as an amendment that tlie subscription be raised for men 10s and for ladies ss. Mr Cock seconded the amendment. Mr T. Houlker moved as an amendment that the present subscription for men, be, raised to £2 10s, and the ladies subscription to 255. Mr Jackson seconded, and, on tho voices, Mr Houlker's amendment was carried almost unanimously. A number of new members wero elected. Mrs Lewis was re-elected as secretary of the Ladies' Committee. Jho chairman, on behalf of the club thanked both Nelson newspapers *or kmdness in reporting tho matches ot the club, and for generally endeavouring to further the interests of tho club. A hearty vote of thanks was proposed to tho chairman, the retiriiiß captain, who was spoken of by the mover of the vote as an ideal captain.
