THE FEDERAL REFERENDA

LABOUR MANIFESTO DISCOVER-

The Labour referenda manifesto, which was mislaid, has been found. It makes an urgcv.it appeal to the people to vote "Yes," and points out that Commonwealth laws dealing with combines and the new protection have been found unconstitutional. It adds that unless the people are content to be exploited without an attempt at retaliation, or to be ruled by trusts, the constitution must bo amended. The Fcideral Government did not intend to intrude into tho domain properly belonging to the States. There was absolutely no question of unification, and the effect of tho referenda would bo to increase the self-governing powers of the electors.
