DOLORES .
The public of Nelson hart1 now the opportunity of hearing Mdle Antonio Dolores, uhose name is legion all over tho •world. The following is an account of her re-'ippearanee in Dutiedin a few weeks hack. "Mdle. Dolores made her re-appearance in Dtmedin after a lapse of some years, which have not, however, effaced the dee)) impression her singing then made. That those present; were privileged to hear vocalisation, but rarely heard in Diinedin is beyond dispute, for Mademoiselle Dolores has reached a stage in her art- that Jew attain. And apart from the close, study she must have given to music, mademoiselle, has evidently the finest instincts of the musician—the artistic temperament that is so rsßentirsl to complete success, and never fails to make itself felt with an audience. Though much of the music sung was not exactly taxing, in the aggregate ifc imposed a heavy task, for it has to be, reniieinbered that mademoiselle had only the assistance of Mr. Selwyn Shrimplin at the piano, and that her rests wen1 few and brief. Under tho circumstances the audience might have restrained its transports a !ittl<' more than it did. and not been fjuit-i so insistent in the matter oi' encores. To say that mademoiselle's singing was appreciated does not adequately convey an idea of the reception it met with. The audience Mas enthusiastic, -and in one- instance almost went as far as cheering the singer, and as far as tributes in the shape of (lowers w<to concerned, by the time the concert cosed the stage bore some resemblance to ■>. horticultural .-how on a small scale.
