Tlio Motueka Cricket Club defeated tho Stars on Saturday by one wicket, ['ho, match was started some time ago xiicl was unfinished. Motueka had 60 runs to get and six wickets in hand. md they just succeeded in wimii/ig\ I'apps 14, Boundy 10, and K. Duncan 22 all batted well and stubbornly. Flip, bowling and fielding wore so keen that it took two and a half hours to go the runs.
Dovodale nnd Yv'hakarcwa have finished their fixtures, and hive lost two matches each. Motneka have only lost one, but have to play Lower Monterey If they win they .secure the senior banner, l-i;t if they lose there ivill be another round between the tlirt y lending tennis.

It is very probable that a local tennis association will be formed and affiliated to the Nelson Association. This will bring our players into vonto.ct with the town players, who undoubtedly play a faster game than is the ease here. We will also be able to send- players to take part in the provincial championships, ami judging from the performances this year of Messrs L. M-uioy and A. Bradley, 1 feel certain that in a season or two we will give our Nelson cousins all they want in the way of a good fastg&me.
