The Egniont Haciiig Club's summer meeting opened to-day in beautiful weather. The attendance was nearly 4000, and the absence .of bookmakers was responsible in the totalisator investments, which amounted to £10,881 against £6066 for tho corresponding day last February. The results were : Hawera Stakes: Roill 1, Lethean 2, Tepuia 3. Also started: Lady Mensdikoff, Silver Spur and Maisuma. Six inches separated first and second lior* ses; time 1.44. Wharcroa Hudles: Maggie Paul 1, Playmate 2, Paul 3. Scratched: Waterworks, and Moose. Won by half a dozen lengths. Showman lost his rider time 2.45. Obanre Hack Hurdles: Winchester 1, Chaso Mab 2, Starlike 3. Scratched Cle-me.ncy. Lochguard and Torbelle fell, but tho riders were not injured ; won by six lengths; time 2.49. Mcreinero Hack Flat: Stoney 1, Bed Lupin 2, Jackpin 3. Scratched, Idolatress, St Helena, St Luap, St Prior, Labour Day, Lady Flora. Won by barely a neck; time 1.3. B. Deely, rider of Jackpin. failed to weigh in, and was fined £2, tho thrtd money being awarded to Contralto.
