[United Press Association.]

Auckland, Feb. 8. At tiie conclusion of the Australasian Institute of Mining Engineers' Conference, at To Aroha, Captain Richards, manager of the Mount Morgan mine; .expressed thy belief that two years hence New iiedlaud wduld show remarkable strides in the development of mineral wealth. He mentioned the iron, copper, and petroleum deposits, and urged that it was the duty of the Government to turn attention to these sources of wealth, extend tho geological .survey of the country, and pay attention to metallurgy. If Now Zealand prosecuted tho development of her mineral wealth and observed what was doing «t Mount Morgan and Mount Lyell, the results would be a revelation. It was his candid opinion that New Zealand was going to bo a copper producing country.
