CLEANERS' UNION.

(From "The Colonist," Feb. 16;) The animal meeting of the Gleaners' Union was held in the Shelbourne street Sunday school last evening. The Rev J. 1\ Kempthorn© presided. The proceedings commenced with the sfnging of Hymn 145, "Sow in, the Morn Thy Seed," followed by prayer by the chairman, and after the singing of another hymn the secretary's report was read by the chairman. The report expressed the great loss the Gleaners had sustained by the death of the late Mr Pasley, who had so efficiently filled the position of box secretary for several years. Thanks were expressed to all who had helped to make the meetings held during the past year (which, numbered eleven) so successful. The members boxes had yielded about £40 ta vh& funds for the year, and thero wero oyidences of a revival of interest in missionary work among the members, which should encourage the members for the coming year. Tha election of officers followed : — Miss L. Pasley was re-elected secretary, Mrs Hunter-Brown was elected as box secretary, and the captains were re-elcteted. The Yen Archdeacon Baker then gave an interesting address on. India, and its religious. He vividly described the house in which he and- Mrs Baker lived. Built on a rock it had i originally been part of an old temple, with the steps and walls, etc., still to bo seen.
