CANADA AND JAMAICA.
PREFERENCE TREATY IMPRACTICABLE. [PftMS AiSOdtATION— COFVRiaHT.j London, Feb. 2. The Jamaican Government and merchants have informed the British Canadian Commissioners that it is impossible to grant Canada preference as United States retaliation would ruin the banana 'industry. The Jamaicans suggest that a fast subsidised steamship service would better develop the Canadian trade.
