POST AND TELEGRAPH V. THE PRESS.
The arunual football match between teams fuom the Post and Telegraph ollice and tiho local newspaper offievs took place at Trafalgar Park on Sat-iu'da-,v afternoon, and resulted in ti win for the former by ninu points to anil. Rain fell practically all day, amd just before the match came clown in torrents, but it did not damp the en- ! tlmsiasm of the majority of tho playj ers. Tho Post ami Telegraph team turned out to a man, but several of the press team declined to brave the ; eloments, and with substitutes who were pressed iuto service, only mustered twelve men. Nevertheless, th,\>- ! pui up a good fight, a;nd tho fusi j spill ended without score, but n the I so-'.-juJ 1 alf, they were kept on llj^ dof'.'itto for the greater part of ' lie t.ui-5. For the winners Irving lueiicc 1 a penalty goal, and Hooker mhl Lamb scored tries, neither of wl. .-h were converted.
