HIGHLY SATISFACTORY WORK

The last load of mutton from the Nelson Freezing Company's works was alongside the Rakaia shortly after seven o'clock last evening, and the loading was completed by eight o'clock. Close upon 15,000 carcases were shipped, also 105 casks of tallow, 40 bales of wool, and sundry bags of tongues, kidneys, horns, etc. Loading operations wore carried on at an average rate of over 1000 carcases per hour, which is equal to, if not belter than, the- average rate of loading in other parts of the Dominion. Captain Bone, the Marine Superintendent of the New Zealand Shipping Company, Ltd., and the officers of the Haitaia arc highly satisfied with the arrangements made for loading, and tb greatest credit is due to Mr Inos Edwards, the railway manager, and staff for the facilities afforded. Ihe number of insulated waggons not be-, ing sufficient to copo with the quantity of carcases in the time available, other waggons were improvised by the railway manager, and these enabled any difficulties that might have arisen to bo overcome. „ The Itakaia was open to the public again yesterday, and opportunity was taken by many to inspect the vessel. The officers and crew were most courteous and obliging, and showed the visitors everything that was or mThY Rakaia will leave Nelson this morning for Wellington between halt past eight and nine She proceeds from there to Waitara, Timaru and Lyttelton, leaving the last named port for London at the beginning ot May.
