MODERN SPIRITUALISM.
(To the Editor of "The Colonist.") Sir,— Spiritualism in its . _ varied phases Tias been successfully investigatecVin all ages; but the subject has been investigated with special interest of late partly through extraordinary manifestations (especially in Melbourne), and partly owing to the outspoken writings -of Mr- W. T. Stead, the famous London, journalist. Mr Stead, recently wrote, thus : — "I do not believe" the dead depart. They are still with us, closer and nearer than they ever were before they laid down this earthly vesture of decay. : . . Last December my first-born spii passed -over, and our grief has been much assuaged by the communications from him which .1 have received through third parties ever since he died." My. own experience during 25 years of careful investigation is in perfect agreement Math Mr Stead's courageous testimony; and I believe that this view is fully_ borno out by the most advanced scientific research and by the teaching of the Bible and history.
