Livercargilh "March 1 12. Some time ago the Health Officer wrote to the Borough -Council complaining of defective'drainage for new buildings. The matter was referred to the Council's inspector, who reported that the Health. Officer must be labouring under a misundar standing. At to-night's meeting of the Council the Health Officer wrote that out of 24 new houses erected during the year only one was" drained -satisfactorily, and in accordance with the byJaws. He also stated' that of;. ihe- large Inumber of plumbers and drainlayers Working in lnyer'cargill,iiot ..one was registered as required by the by-laws, and only one had a temporary permit. C .."_":■'. : In relation to "the drainage question a report from the; Borough gardener on work in Puni Creek, .which flows through the town, was 1 'interesting. For the purposes, of repair the creek had been drained of water, and cart loads of material were carted away, including rotten vegetable matter, deat cats and dogs, and other things. '.-.
